Profile

My formal studies in art began while studying architecture and engineering at the University of Tennessee.  I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take several courses in art including art history. I studied using various mediums such as oils, watercolors and and later on, acrylics. I learned the complexities of how to mix mediums. I experienced the art of sculpturing from live models. A school is a place where both student and teacher go to experience learning.  Though limited in that environment it is the experience that we cultivate, nurture, and build. Technology has brought us even furthur today with more concentrated pigments and inks, more binders and solvents.

Architecture is form and shape that follows function.  Art in itself is an expression of varying contrast in value between form and shape, both in color and texture.  Its function is to communicate and excite the senses. To see without looking, to feel without touching, to hear without listening and it is pleasing and comfortable yet uncomplicated.  This is evident by all that surrounds us, our dwellings, our cars, our furniture, our clothing and even our music.

With the advent of computer technology and graphic software my interest has expanded to digital art and graphics.

My whole adult life has revolved around the field of architecture and engineering yet my passion and love for art has never waned.

My goal is not to accumulate ribbons nor line my walls and shelves with awards but share with those who would have a moment to view what I do and love, for you are part of my experience.
