Most of the social problems and ills of this world are not solved by our politicians but created by them. Think about it.
We the People need to rid Washington of its influence pedaling, that is the lobbyist for the special interest groups. The peddlers who buy the votes from elected officials by contributing to their election champagnes. Those running for office, any office from the county commissioners, the school board members, the mayors all the way up to the United States Senate need all the cash they can raise in order to pay for their staff and their champagne ad's which can very expensive. How do we do this? We begin by electing state legislators who will enact laws prohibiting lobbying with cash or any other offer of monetary value. Make it a felony to do so.
The next question becomes how do those running for public office pay for their election or champagne expenses? John McCain once suggested limited public funds. If that is the direction we take then there should also be limited expenses even for those with their own personal resources. This way we level the playing field. Another restriction would be that no funds could be used to pay for negative ads. Maybe then we would have true representation.
