Painting # 2108 Landscape
Story:
A rural community lies at the end of this road at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains. First there was a farm house with a few out buildings then another and another. There was a small country store that had a pot bellied stove in the middle of it that sold feed, seed, grain and a few soft drinks and some hardware. Later a limited food supply. As time went by they expanded into a general store that carried such tools as shovels, picks, hammers and fence posts. And there was counter where women could buy fabric, buttons, sewing needles and ready made clothes. Yes there was a butcher shop where you could buy fresh meat and mountain trout. Somewhere while all this was being built a church was constructed where people would congregate on Sunday mornings and sing 'How Great thou Art' and other songs while worshiping the lord. As a boy I can remember sitting beneath this oak tree and looking over clover and wild flowers toward the mountains and wondering...... just wondering.
