Painting # 2107 Landscape
Story:
I was inspired so much by the French painter, Francois R'egis Gignoux (1816-1882)who painted this scene that I wanted to paint it myself. I must say I did not and could not do his painting any justice as far as duplicating his style. I don't believe any one could. His favorite scenes were winter landscapes also a favorite of mine, yet he painted this scene without having visited Niagara Falls at least in the winter so it is said. Niagara did freeze during the winter of 1911-1912 and several artists ventured out onto the ice making sketches during the frigid tempertures. His painting was approximately 52" x 36". Mine is on a 24" x 36". By the way Table Rock collasped into the abyss below around 1850.
